• Thin pattern design: DIN 985 nuts have the same across flat size as heavy pattern nuts but a reduced overall height, making them suitable for applications with limited clearance.
• Nylon insert lock: A permanent undersized nylon/polyamide ring at the top produces friction, creating a prevailing torque that resists loosening and seals out moisture and gases.
• High type nylon insert compresses without damaging threads: The insert deforms around the mating threads to lock the nut in place and then recovers; it does not cut the threads and can be reused a limited number of times.
• Less exposed thread: The taller profile leaves less external thread exposed, improving safety and appearance.
• Materials & grades: Available in high strength steel (property Class 8) with zinc for enhanced corrosion resistance.
• Thread types: Coarse.
• Standards: Complies with DIN 985; equivalent to ISO 10511 and ANSI B18.16.3M.
• Cautions: Nylon inserts have chemical and temperature limitations; friction may cause galling when paired with stainless bolts. Reuse is limited and nuts must be installed with the nylon insert facing outward. Avoid power tools to prevent damage.
